Professor Victor T. King of the Institute of Asian Studies at Universiti Brunei Darussalam delivered an address in a keynote forum at the International Conference on Social Sciences and Humanities (ICOSSH); Integrating the Culture and Civilization of the Nusantara, organised by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) at the Parkcity Everly Hotel, Bintulu, Sarawak, 8-9 October 2019.

Dr. King’s presentation was entitled ‘From the “Sociology of the Social” to the “Sociology of the Cultural” : East-West Parallels and the Southeast Asian Context’.

The forum comprised Professor King, and Distinguished Professor Datuk Dr Shamsul Amri Baharuddin of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), who was awarded in 2019 the UNESCO Chair in Communications and Social Cohesion at UKM and appointed Chair of the National Council of Professors in Malaysia; and Professor Dr Jayum Jawan, Professor of Politics and Development at UPM who also served as the 15th Tun Abdul Razak Professor at the Center of International Studies, Ohio University in 2015-2017.
