About
Dr.Indra Alverdian is an Assistant Professor and lecturer at the Institute of Asian Studies at the University of Brunei Darussalam. Recently he was an Assistant Professor at the Maritime Safety and Security Program at the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies (GRIPS) in Tokyo, Japan. Previously, he was also a lecturer on Indonesian Ocean Policy, Sea Power and Maritime Affairs, as well as Ocean Governance in Global Politics, at President University in Indonesia. Dr. Alverdian received his Doctor of Philosophy degree in Maritime Policy and Law from the Australian National Centre for Ocean Resources and Security (ANCORS) University of Wollongong in Australia in 2022. He was a recipient of the 2024 Yeosu Academy of the Law of the Sea Award and the 2023-2024 WSD Handa Non-Resident Research Fellow at the US Pacific Forum. His current research interests include maritime security and safety in Brunei and Southeast Asia and maritime defense policies and strategy in Southeast Asia.
