Dk Noor Hasharina Pg Haji Hassan is Deputy Director of IAS. She is a human geographer and in 2011, she completed her PhD research on financialisation and urban consumption culture. She is also the Head of Borneo Studies Secretariat at UBD. She has published a chapter and was co-editor for the book: Borneo Studies in History, Society and Culture in 2017. She is also a lecturer in Geography, Environment and Development Programme in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Dk Noor Hasharina was invited to speak at the 50th ASEAN Day UBD on the 8 August 2017. Her presentation title was “Borneo Matters” emphasizing the importance of studying Borneo by locals and issues surrounding the island. Dk Noor Hasharina was also invited to be a speaker for the Summer School and Student Engagement Universitas Tanjungpura 10 August 2017. Her seminar title was on Sustainable Development Goals and Green Economy. She held an online seminar with the participants who came from Brunei, Malaysia, Indonesia, Egypt, China and Japan.
